What medical courses do you have for grassroots coaches?

There are two courses aimed at grassroots coaches. The FA Level 1 Introduction to First Aid in Football (IFAiF) and The FA Level 2 Emergency First Aid in Football (EFAiF).

The FA Level 1 Introduction to First Aid in Football (IFAiF) is a three hour course and provides you with the knowledge, practical skills and confidence to attend a conscious or unconscious player, ensuring that appropriate care is given until the emergency medical services arrive and takeover, or until an alternative healthcare professional(s) assumes responsibility. It is a practical guide to dealing with the essential components of saving a life, both in training and matches. This course goes beyond generic first aid and includes elements specific to football.

The FA Level 2 Emergency First Aid in Football (EFAiF) aims to raise the standard of first aid provision within football. It is a one-day intensive course aimed at practitioners (coach or scientist) within the club environment who may be called upon to assist medical staff in player care or health care professionals who are new to the football environment but who will be providing immediate care and management to footballers both in the competitive and training environment.

Both courses are run by The FA's County FA network. Please contact your local County FA for available dates.

Further information on both courses can be found on thefa.com.
